The Power of Global Grants

Improved water and sanitation facilitates economic development!

The Maryland Salisbury Sunrise Club and The Malindi Rotary Club of Kenya were awarded a Global Grant for $98,500 to support clean water and sanitation projects that will facilitate economic development in Burangi, Kenya.

The grant was enthusiastically supported by Districts 7630 (Maryland) and 5400 (Idaho) and other clubs in Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Illinois.Read More...



Are You Ready for World Toilet Day?

World Toilet Day, created by the World Toilet Organization (WTO) in 2001 and now recognized by the UN, is celebrated each year on

19th November.

With Rotary's help WTD can be celebrated not only in the 50 or more countries where it is already established, but at every one of our 34,000 Clubs. Water holds key to sustainable development, UN chief tells Budapest summit

UNITED NATIONS, Oct 8 (APP): UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Tuesday stressed the vital role of water in sustainable development, highlighting in particular its importance with regard to food security, climate change and sanitation. "Water holds the key to sustainable development. We need it for health, food security and economic progress", the UN chief said in his opening remarks at the Water Summit in Budapest, Hungary, according to the text of his statement released at UN Headquarters in New York. Handwashing Education in the Dominican Republic

Phase 1 of the Rotary Handwashing Campaign began in Nov 2012. It is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Santiago ApĪŒstol and funded by a grant from The Rotary Foundation and 22 clubs in District 6310 (northeast Michigan).

The Campaign has focused upon training teachers to teach students. We have trained and certified almost 300 teachers who are now teaching handwashing classes in about 100 schools representing approximately 45,000 students. Read More...
