President Len rang the lunch bell at 12:15 calling our luncheon meeting to order. He asked us to raise our glasses to toast the Queen, Canada and Rotary International and then invited Rotarian Doug Fairhall to lead us in O’Canada and Rotary Grace.

President-elect Debbie, do you have any guests or visitors to introduce? She introduced our speaker Brendra Richards; our newest members – Jennifer Jerritt and Julia Finch and ``soon to be members``- Deb Duce and Jennifer Simpson.

As a pre-luncheon update of our Club’s activities, Pres Len noted the following:

Rotary Bingo on Tuesday nights: Becoming very popular as we gave away $3,000.00 for the second week in a row!! That’s 3 times since January 8, 2013. Guess we won’t have to worry about having too much money in our account!

Thursday Feb 21st , Peter & Kathleen Miller; Rob Saunders; Len Ross & his wife Nina Semper plus Gord and Fran Mitchell attended the  Oklahoma at the Bracebridge Sportsplex put on by the Rotary Club of Bracebridge. Len noted that we were well treated and it was a fun night.

Rotary Exchange Student Tia: Now-a-days with email and Skype used almost daily, the students leave for the exchange trip but they don’t really leave. Lou Luvison, our chair of the youth exchange committee and pres Len have been dealing with the issues of a young lady away and in constant contact with home and parents. Tia now reports that all is well and sends her best wishes from Croatia.

Police Checks: Please help Barb White get everyone’s file updated for this year.

Next Week’s Meeting: Is our 1st regular night meeting at the Holiday Inn Express @ 6:30 PM.

2013 Ontario’s Senior 55+ Winter Games: Our Club donated $5,000 to help sponsor these Games and has received much spotlight, from the front photo on the Games Souvenir publication, to the sole sponsorship of “the Rotary Games Cauldron” in front of the Summit Center, to being on the major sponsors banner of the games that was located everywhere in Town, to being mentioned by Games officials and our mayor Claude Doughty on the opening and closing ceremonials at Deerhurst. The Rotary Club of Huntsville became well known as a large supporter of these games; the names of Debbie &Ross Kirwin, Doug Sullivan and Peter Redwood were often mentioned as hard working volunteers and members of our Club. When I was presenting gold and silver metals for the volleyball  “men’s 55 yrs teams”, I was introduced as the past president of the Rotary Club of Huntsville; one of the men on the winning team, said that he wanted to bring greetings from the Rotary Club of Burlington.  Several of our members were wearing the light blue volunteer scarves, going about their assigned duties, all part of a tremendous effort that really made our Town shine! I really enjoyed being a volunteer, learning how to meet total strangers and having a good time. My wife Fran renewed old friendships with teachers that she taught with in 1967, in Alexander eastern Ontario, 45 years ago!!
