Last week I was out helping to make a few extra calls for the Rotary Radio TV and Internet auction and I was visiting people who I had not visited before, so I introduced myself as a member of the Rotary club of Huntsville, and I was careful to have my Rotary sweater on so that my introduction would be done as I approached the donor.

As I was discussing the background letter and the auction details which Len Ross, our president has signed, I turned the page over to show the people in the projects which we have supported in the past.

I went on to say that our small Rotary Club in Huntsville will be drilling its sixth well in Maui Africa, which will allow the girls of the villages to now attend school instead of having to stay home to help their mothers carry dirty water from a stream many kilometers away for their family each day. I told them, that when the girls of these African villages are allowed to go to school that they make a real difference in their lives and the life of their communities.  With this comment, each of the would-be donors thought about this project and were impressed. They all said that they would get back to me later with plans for a donation to our auction.

I would suggest that as you go about your canvassing,  mention the well project as the benefits to the many villagers that we provide fresh clean water to is tremendous and it shows that could use some of our money makes the world a better place!!Image
