Membership is every Rotarian’s responsibility. It is the most important committee in the club so said the new chairperson last week, Brandy Van Gelder!! She told us that if we don't have an active membership recruitment of new members every year, then our Rotary club will die!! And she's right!!

Brandy’s presentation was fun and thought provoking as she challenged us to get off our butts and get out there and bring in members who represent the cross section of our community. For every new club member that joins the club, the membership committee will give the sponsoring member, a value of $100 points toward the next Paul Harris Fellowship in our name, what a good idea!

She also gave us some homework, to create a perspective name list, by simply putting the name and contact number on the form that she handed out. Please bring these lists back within a week so that the committee can consolidate the list so that we can start inviting these prospective members to a lunch with us, so that we can introduce our Rotary Club to them and we can meet and talk with them.

Her committee has revised the brochure explaining what Rotary is, the objects, the benefits of service we do into a full color brochure which is very appealing to the eye and has lots of good information that a person who has no idea what Rotary is; they would get a good review of who we are and what our focus is both in Huntsville and around the world.

Brandy also gave us little foldout that we can carry in our car or wallet to give to people that introduces Rotary; we can put our name and phone number on the wallet card for easy reference for the potential member.

Just remember folks, though we have a membership committee that's working hard in the promotion of ideas how to get new members, it's up to us to individually invite a friend or neighbor to come to lunch!!
