Further to this we have just heard that the hockey equipment is on the truck on the first stage of the journey to Fort Hope.

Following a luncheon speech by Susan Stronach las fall, relating her experiences of teaching in Fort Hope which is located on the Albion River in the district of Kenora at a first Nations reserve, our club decided to try and help the youth of the reserve by collecting used hockey equipment and getting it to Fort Hope as they had a hockey arenaImage but needed equipment.

The transportation is not easy because the Reserve is accessed by many days of paddling along the Albion River or fly- in Bush Plane service. We have been negotiating with Manitoulin transport that travels to Nakina where the fly- in air service flies from and to date they gave us a price of $82.00 to move the 106 pounds of equipment from Huntsville to Nakina, which we thought was a fair price. Then just before our meeting last week I got an e-mail from the Manitoulin pricing agent in Gore Bay, from Manitoulin’s Head Office, that the company decided to help even more; Manitoulin Transport had decided to move our shipment free of charge as a support to what we are doing for the reserve community in northern Ontario. As for the fly in air service from Nakina to Fort Hope you hope to talk to be owner of the Bush Plane Service to see if they can include some of our boxes at no charge to fill their plane up whenever they can.

What great news from Manitoulin transport, to help us with our project delivery!!
