Peter Redwood says that The General Organization Committee (GOC) of the Rotary DockFest is in fairly good shape according to Peter the co-chair with Debbie K. Though the committee was not able to acquire a grant to help fund the project, Peter told us that the sale of Bath Tubs for the races has really gone well with 29 sales to date. That smooth talkin’ Ross Kirwin has single handily sold all the boats to date.

Debbie K and Peter delivered promotional Posters of the DockFest to the downtown merchants and this past week and they were all happy that Rotary is bringing back the bath tub racing.

To make Rotary DockFest the success that is possible, the GOC and it’s committee chairs need Rotarians to help:

1)    The Mill Park, we need activities and sales outlets in that area that will help to keep the crowd in the downtown area before and after the races.

2)    Ross Kirwin is in charge of set-up of the park and dock area . He needs help.

3)    Bill Corrigan who is in charge of the races, needs help.

4)    Cathy Jordan is chairing the pancake breakfast, she needs help.

5)    Sandy Mackay is in charge of the parade, he needs help.

6)    Chris Knobelsdorf is in charge if the boat pits; he needs help

7)    Jennifer Jerrett is in charge of the training of the boat captains on the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday before race day. She’ll need some help.

Peter and Ross Kirwin introduced a countdown clock that showed 90 days to race day.  Peter went on to caution us that those 90 days will fly by; that we have alot of work to do to pull the team together to get ready to have fun!!

Have a look at the committees and call the chair to volunteer. Peter will be available for anyone to talk to get an idea of what the jobs will be, on all of these committees. We will need each and every Rotarian, your friends and family members helping to make DockFest a success. It’ll be fun and we will have fun putting it on.

Finally Peter alerted us that the DockFest committee will begin to meet every two weeks as of Monday April 8th.
