Post Script: Our Club was shocked by mid afternoon – Peter Miller suddenly taken from us. He died on Highway 60 – getting things done.

On Monday June 30th most of our club either visited the funeral home or attended the Funeral Mass Service to remember our friend and Rotarian. We knew Peter as a shy, quiet fellow who was very organized.

He joined our club April 6, 2011 and in this short time as a member of our Rotary Club he was very involved. He and George Snooks became a team in getting the Rotary Auction organized as the rest of us procrastinators dragged, the getting the donated items into them, so they could get their job completed. After the auction he was still part of the team that distributed the purchased items and tied up the lose ends to finalize the fund raiser.

Peter became our Sergeant-at-Arms, welcoming all who attended our meeting; keeping track of their attendance; organizing the visitors list for introduction by the Pres-elect at the meetings; calling Al`s Taxi on Tuesday mornings to check the number of Rotarians who had canceled their lunch for the next day and then reported that number to the caterer so all would have a meal and he issued the pre-meal charges to all members on a quarterly basis to keep our Club finances running. On a couple occasions, most of us were quite surprised when he gave us hell and well said too; as he was telling us to always call to cancel our lunches and if we were bringing a visitor or two, please call in to Al`s Taxi to tell them that information so extra meals could be prepared....because he was the fellow who issued the pre-billed meal charges and he was the fellow who took the brunt of the Rotarian complaints - that they were not at the lunches and that they forgot to call in and that they would like him to fix their problem!!

At the service yesterday, a description of Peter - he was always thoughtful, loving and kind. Father McMahon spoke about Peter at the dog park where they would let their dogs enjoy the space and the owners enjoyed the company of each other. Peter would walk with an owner whose dog had just died and who still came to the park to see those who gathered and he made sure that she was OK.

I learned yesterday that Peter was a musical student, even though when he was joining our club, he asked me if it was OK to be a Rotarian if you didn't sing.....I said no problem. Peter had been taking guitar lessons for four years from Tobin Spring. Tobin played the violin in the musical section yesterday, at Peter’s service.

. Kathleen, please know that we enjoyed Peter to the fullest and valued him as a very active member of our club. Our club members and our club will be with you in the days ahead. God bless you and your family.
